I grew up just outside San Francisco, CA, in a small town surrounded by woods. In high school, my favorite thing to do with my best friend after class was to drive out to the edge of town and walk around the woods, talking and smelling the fresh air. This energy of simple joy and spontaneity is what I wanted to encompass in this piece. "Favored Terrain" is a nod to a class feature from Dungeons and Dragons, stating that no matter how far you wander, you will always find your way home.
